I have researched and fact checked for full-length books, magazine articles, podcasts, daily news articles and sponsored content. I combine my love for research and narrative with an editor's eye that I've honed over 15 years in the news and publishing industry. I am well-versed in probing the depths of databases like Nexis, PACER, ProQuest, EBSCO and Google as well as popular social media sites like Facebook and Twitter/X. I have also worked extensively with various state and federal government records as well as financial records from public and private companies.

My goal is to play a small, but meaningful role to elevate any project—whether it's a short news article or 100,000-word book—to be accurate, compelling and informative.

Whether I arrive at the beginning or end of a project, I will treat the source material with the care and seriousness it deserves.

  • My goal is to confirm every provable fact in the book with either a strong primary source or multiple corroborating secondary sources. After working on books with topics ranging from the media industry to cryptocurrency fraud to public education, I will guarantee that all claims in the book are scrutinized to determine their merit. I enjoy working with authors to assure that every verifiable fact is substantiated by strong sourcing, whether that information is reported by the author or cited in trusted news publications or academic journals. I also draw on my decade’s experience as an editor to assure that the book’s language is precise and that the book is accurately timelined.

For a full book, the fact checking process usually begins near the completion of the edited manuscript and at least three months before the book is submitted for copy editing. I also offer to check individual chapters for authors who may not have the time or budget for a complete fact check.

As the fact checker, I am one of the first readers of a project that has often taken years to shape between authors and editors. I take pride in that role.

  • Writing a book is a grueling experience. The sheer amount of material that authors are required to read and analyze for them to execute the vision of their book is overwhelming, leading to topics, histories or people that they wish they could research more extensively.

One of my favorite ways to assist authors is to provide them with dossiers or example passages designed to integrate these neglected topics into the book. If there is ever a subject that you wish you could have dedicated more time to or don’t think you will have time to scrutinize, I will help you avoid that nagging “what if?” feeling.
